Where the numbers come from
Good to know
Plants only grow near a player. Random ticks happen in chunks within the simulation distance (by default, about 10 chunks around you in single player), so stay close to an AFK farm.
Crops on farmland grow fastest in single rows on wet farmland, with a different crop or an empty row next to them. Planting a whole field of the same crop halves their speed. Light level 9 or more is needed.
These are averages. Growth is random, so a single plant can be much faster or slower, but big farms land very close to these numbers.
